Montana title, and repossession requirements:

Title State: License and Registration information refer to: Montana Motor Vehicle Division, Title and Registration Bureau, 1032 Buckskin Drive, Deer Lodge, Montana 59722

Recording: With County Clerk and Recorder of county where property is located. Uniform Commercial Code adopted January, 1965. Must be filed with Registrar's Bureau to be valid against third party creditors.

Recovery: Peaceful repossession permitted, but retaking bars suit for price and vice-versa. Trip permits required on units leaving the county where repossession takes place.

Redemption: Ten day redemption.

Deficiency: Not allowed if buyer has paid at least one-third of the purchase price and buyer surrenders to seller without expense. Judgment notes are invalid.

Special Motor Vehicle Provisions: Contract filed with registrar of Motor Vehicles valid against all persons.

Documents Required to Transfer Ownership of Motor Vehicle: Certificate of Title; affidavit of repossession; notarized release of lien.

PLATES: Plates remain with the owner and can be transferred to replacement vehicles of the same type.
